Negombos in Newcastle is a hidden gem for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine! As a Sri Lankan, I can confidently say this is one of the best places I’ve visited. The food truly captures the essence of home, with generous hospitality that warms your heart.
They were incredibly kind and welcoming, even treating us to ginger plain tea and an incredible cashew curry, which added such a special touch to our experience. Every curry was bursting with flavor, but the standout for me was the mutton curry—took me straight back to my mom’s cooking.
If you visit, don’t miss out on the mutton curry! What a fantastic name, too—“Negombos”!

Well this is a hidden little gem, the food is amazing, the noodles and curry are stunning, but for me the kottu is the stand out, love the chicken and beef but the mutton WOW. We tried here for a change now it's a regular, all food is freshly made to order as you wait very good.
Also the rooms,buns and the rest of the take away snacks wow but beware of the gunpowder triangle if you like heat 🥵 it's the one to go for. Every is spiced perfect if heat is there you can still taste all the flavours.

Food was definitely worth the travel from Lancaster. Service was excellent as they were very friendly and accommodating. We had an al fresco dining experience. I would recommend this place especially for those who are craving for authentic Sri lankan cuisine.

Ordered kottu roti and had some tuna balls and I must say it was absolutely exquisite! Mouthwatering food! The family that run the business are friendly and are welcoming. I highly recommend for anyone that’s wants to taste authentic Sri Lankan food- it really does not disappoint !

Amazing food, amazing people. One of the best place in Newcastle to try authentic Srilankan cuisines. Limited dine-in space, highly recommended for take-aways. Priced less compared to the quality of food offered. Must try place for spicy food lovers!!!

This is a small local establishment that offers Sri Lankan takeaway, though it does have two tables that allow a small group to eat in. We got two of the boneless lunch boxes (deviled chicken, and beef bistake) with two iced lattes. The food was flavourful and very nicely cooked and seasoned, and the portions were very reasonable considering the price of 5.99. Wouldn't mind a little less ice and more coffee in the latte, but it tasted very good all the same! We also tried two of the fresh pasties out of curiosity, both of which were crispy and delicious. All came to about £21. Definitely recommend visiting and we will be returning again to try some of the other lunchtime dishes.
Edit: Quick addendum to say that the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the premises were clean, cosy and well kept. Great experience!- Service
